少し遅くなりましたが、4月10日（月）に開催された「大使館でお茶を第14回ブルキナファソ大使館」のご報告です。
Hello everyone. It’s been a while since we held “Join us for tea at the Embassy” at the Embassy of Burkina Faso. Here is the report from the tea party.
大使館は小さな外国への入り口
An embassy’s front door leads us to a foreign country

a full-blown drooping cherry-tree
当日は明るい陽ざしに少々汗ばむくらいのお天気となりました。大使館の中庭から見える枝垂れ桜のキレイな事！お天気が良ければお茶は中庭で頂けるとのことで期待で胸膨らむスタートです。
It was a beautiful fine day and the warmness brought out a slight sweat. A drooping-cherry tree visible from the court yard was splendid. We had been told that if the weather was nice we could enjoy the tea party in the yard. We all kept our fingers crossed.

本日のホストは、お洒落で美しい、ブルキナファソ大使夫人アミナトウ・ウビダ・シセさん（Mrs. Aminatou OUBIDA CISSE）。
明るいカラーの着こなしや、桜の季節に合わせた髪飾りが素敵です。後半のお茶の時間でも記念写真で皆さんから声をかけられとても人気でした。
Today’s host was a very beautiful spouse of the Ambassador of Burkina Faso, Mrs. Aminatou OUBDIA CISSE who is very fashionable having a high sense of color coordination. Her hair accessory, matching this cherry blossom season, was very lovely. During the last half of the tea party, many participants asked Mrs. Aminatou to take photos together. She was very popular.
さて前半はブルキナファソのプレゼンタイム。お国を知る時間です。プロジェクターに少々トラブルがありましたが、今回もブルキナファソについて皆で学びました。
During the first half of the tea party, we learned about Burkina Faso from Mrs. Aminatou.

Mrs. Aminatou introduced her country to the participants.
ブルキナファソは西アフリカに位置する共和制国家、現在の国名は、1984年に旧国名のオートボルタから改称されて付けられました。
ブルキナはモシ語で「高潔な人」、ファソは「祖国」を意味します。
Burkina Faso is located in West Africa and has a republic government. Formally called the Republic of Haute-Volta, the country was renamed “Burkina Faso” in 1984. Burkina from Mossi language means “Men of Integrity,” while Faso means “Fatherland”.
アフリカは日本からは遠いこともあり、日本人はあまり多くの事を知りません。
もちろん多くの日本人が持つアフリカのイメージも間違いではないと思いますが、一口にアフリカ諸国と言っても、それぞれの文化や国情や人柄は違います。
この大使館のお茶会では、ブルキナファソは、タンザニア、ボツワナ、マダガスカルに次ぐアフリカ4か国目となり、ぐっと身近に感じるようになりました。
Because Africa is far from Japan, not many Japanese people know about the continent in detail. Of course, images of Africa that Japanese people have are not always wrong but at the same time it is important to be aware that there are different cultures, conditions, and personalities in each African nation. Following Tanzania, Botswana, and Madagascar, Burkina Faso was the fourth country to host “Join us for tea at the Embassy”. Now I feel much more familiar with the African Continent.
スライドでブルキナファソの食文化について教えて頂きました。
ブルキナファソの料理や食文化の説明も興味深く伺いました。
We learned about food culture of Burkina Faso from the slide show.
プレゼンの後のＱ＆Ａを経て、後半はお待ちかねの軽食＆お茶の時間です。
After the presentation, Q&A followed and then it was time for lunch and tea.

こちらは珍しいバオバブジュースとハイビスカスティー。バオバブジュースは皆さん当然初体験の味でした。
また料理はブルキナファソ料理のケータリング業をされているエミールさんがお一人で作ってくださいました。ありがとうございます！
The juice on the left is made of baobab and it is quite rare in Japan. The drink on the right is hibiscus tea. Many of us tasted baobab juice for the first time. Chef Emile, who owns Burkina Faso food catering business, prepared the food for us by himself. We thank you, chef Emile!

最後にIACより今日のホストを務めてくださったアミナトウさんへ小さな贈り物を差し上げました。アミナトウさんの干支（ネズミ年）の刺繍の帯どめです。
着物に詳しい会員より帯どめの使い方を説明しました。オシャレなアミナトウさんなら上手に使いこなしてくださると思います！
At the end of the party IAC presented Mrs. Aminatou with an obi retainer with mouse patterned embroidery; Mrs. Aminatou was born in the year of mouse. One of the IAC members who is knowledgeable about Kimono explained to her how to use obi retainer. I am sure she will wear it very well with her high sense of fashion.
